TOBACCO FREE AGENCY

As of August 1, 2007, Grace Community Services is a tobacco-free agency.  This means that there will be no smoking or use of tobacco products while on the grounds or on the clock.  This new policy includes employees, clinicians, visitors, and consumers.

As a healthcare provider, we believe that providing a tobacco-free environment helps to demonstrate our commitment to encouraging healthier life styles.  We realize that some will have strong opinions about this new policy; however, we also feel strongly about promoting a healthy environment for our employees, our consumers, and our visitors.

We are seeking employees to volunteer to be on a team that will help in the implementation of this policy.  As well, we will be offering smoking cessation programs and free nicotine patches free of charge to employees who wish to take advantage of this benefit.  It is important to note that we are not forcing people to quit using tobacco; that is an individual choice that we each must take.  Rather, we are reinforcing our belief that a totally tobacco-free environment will lead to a healthier workplace.
