The Friends of Grace is a group of subscribed members led by a support committee which promotes community education and awareness, fundraising, social activities on or off the premises of the homes, and personal and corporate interaction. The support committee uses the funds received from annual membership appeals to provide camping opportunities, home anniversary celebrations, yearly picnics, and swim parties. Christmas and individual birthday gifts are also given. Funds raised have also paid for new appliances, furniture, landscaping, flooring, and many other items that make a house a home. The cost of most of these items are typically out of reach for Grace Community Services as they are not included in the rates received from the state. Patrick McGrath, Executive Director for GCS says, “the Friends of Grace provide us with that extra needed support that allows us to provide a high quality of care for our consumers. Without their aid, we would find ourselves in need of items vital to the operation of the homes with few means to access these items. The Friends of Grace have been an active and integral part of the GCS extended family since its inception, and its supporters drive its mission to ensure the needed care of our consumers.” We believe that Grace Community Services is a wonderful ministry. We rely on your generosity and support in order to make our houses like a home.
